Lanreleke Sports Academy Train Stops In Benin To Pick Five on Three Years Scholarship

The train of Lanreleke Sports Academy U13 recruitment rode into the ancient modern City of Benin on Wednesday 25th August, 2021 in full capacity with the presence of former Real Madrid and Super Eagles’ forward, Mutiu Adepoju and host of others.

Mutiu “Headmaster” Adepoju while addressing the young athletes of various sports accentuated on discipline, dedication and determination for the teens who have been presented a good platform which will help them attain their desired height in life, academically and sports wise.
“This is a good platform and I would say you guys are lucky, because during our days we never had this, yet we worked hard to make it, this platform shows that something is coming and you must work hard to get it.”

“If you are picked, big thing is sure to happen to you in the future because when you get there, you won’t come out of that place the same again. Thanks to Engineer Lanre Adeleke for this initiative which is not restricted to his home state alone, he thought of the state he lived which is Delta State, Edo State, Lagos and Oyo state with other states of the country to be included in subsequent recruitment to make it national.”

“What I can only advise you now is, wherever you are, education is very important as well as sports and the two goes hands in hands; it’s now left for you to be disciplined, discipline is very important, dedication is very important and determination when you are doing whatever you are doing – those three deals were my watchwords when I was young and that was how I could achieve all I achieved; so with discipline, dedication and determination, hardwork and everything, you will go places.”

In his words, the academy adminstrative head, Egbunu Chike said sports and education are core tenants at the LSA and the objective is to raise well rounded human beings.

“Our target is to raise individuals who will be sound academically and also could aspire to become the best in whatever sports they will chose to do. This will be like a guinea pig and the school is starting newly with students, forty in all, gathered from Delta, Lagos, Edo, Oyo and Osun State will be our main stay and will be on full scholarship with their parents not paying a kobo.”

“We are picking those of you who are not more than 13 or 14 years now, so that by the time you have three years if training with us, you won’t remain the same person that came into the school, that’s the platform we have set for you and we hope you will avail yourself this opportunity.

The participants were made to go through series of football drillings through the help of Mutiu Adepoju as well as in athletics, through other members of the technical crew on ground today at the mainbowl of the University of Benin sports complex.

Also in attendance was veteran sports journalist and one time media officer of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Toying Ibitoye.

Ex-Super Eagles Stars Gets “WORLDWIDE MOVEMENT FOR UNITED NIGERIA (WMUN)” Ambassadorial Positions; Unity Cup Takes Center Stage in Kogi

President of Worldwide Movement For a United Nigeria (WMUN) Ambassador Odion Cedrack Okpebholo has confirmed the appointments of Nigeria Ex-internationals, Mutiu Adepoju (MON) – South West, Dahiru Sadi (MFR) – North West, Austin Eguaveon (MON) – South South, Patrick Pascal (MON) – North East, ACP Chioma Ajunwa (MON) – South East, and Abdul Sule for North Central, as WMUN Sports Ambassadors in Nigeria.

In a statement, released by Comrade Austin Popo, Secretary of BOT of the Nigeria players Union, Professional Footballers Association (PFAN), who recently was appointed as WMUN National Director of sports. The appointments of the WMUN sports Ambassadors was confirmed during the inauguration ceremony of WMUN National Exco members which took place on Saturday 23rd of January 2021 in Abuja.

Reiterating WMUN’s vision and mission statements, the President, Ambassador Odion Cedrack Okpebholo said, the
Worldwide Movement for a United Nigeria, is a platform that offers everyone of us the opportunity to lend our voices to the people all around the world, who are clamouring for peace in Nigeria. “Our vision is to promote peace and unity among different tribes, cultures, institutions, states, communities and individuals through the message of Hope.”

The Secretary of WMUN Sports Committee chaired by Comrade Austin Popo, Comrade Ahmad Arabi Abulfathi, who doubles as the Deputy National P.R.O of WMUN, inform us that the first assignment of the WMUN sports Ambassadors will be to lead the teams under their zones, both male and female to the WMUN Unity Cup tournament and ‘WALK FOR A UNITED NIGERIA’ ( WFUN) program, holding simultaneously in Lokoja, the Kogi State Capital in the last week of May 2021.

In the words of the WMUN President, Ambassador Odion Cedrack Okpebholo, the Edo state philanthropist based in the UK, “football has been described as the most democratic game in the world, because it is a game of the people, by the people and for the people. Every true and impactful democracy that is people oriented, thrives on the tripod of Peace, Unity and Justice.

“Football and Sports generally has been proven over the years globally as a most veritable tool for peaceful coexistence and unite people of different tribal and cultural background, as you can find in the make up of any Football team both at Club and National level. NANPF Suspends Earlier Scheduled Election, Expands Congress; Tasks NFF on Players Welfare Packages.

The National Executive Council of the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers (NANPF) has in its recent visual annual general meeting called on the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to set up the Players Status Committee in line with relevant provisions of FIFA and NFF in order to enable players get justice and avoid unnecessary industrial crises.

At the end of the 2nd Annual General Assembly Meeting held virtually on Saturday, 29th August 2020, the NEC came up with series of way forward decisions for the development of the players union and the betterment of its members.

Commendeding the National Administrative Council (NAC) led by the its President, ex-international Tijani Babangida (MON) for their doggedness, commitment, and sacrifice in pushing and repositioning the players union to a new level through its various players welfare initiatives and demands for players rights within the industry.

Executive Council in its communique, tasked the NAC to immediately set up a Monitoring and Compliance Committee in ensuring that players are professionally guided in terms of Contract signing and termination, including the decisions of Arbitration Committee are complied with, and other related matters regarding players Career.

The NEC in session however calls on the NFF and the Leagues to put in place appropriate rules and regulations that will compel all Professional Football Players, especially those in NPFL to engage FIFA/NFF Football intermediaries, or Lawyers in signing of Contracts and other related services, beginning from the 2020/2021 League season.

In the same vein, the NEC calls for immediate establishment of the Players Status Committee and National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) in line with relevant provisions of FIFA and NFF Statutes without further delay to enable players get justice and avoid unnessary industrial crises in seeking for alternative means by the players and their union .

In view of the ongoing reconciliation move for merger of the two players associations , the NEC approved the suspension of the union State Administrative Councils (SAC) elections earlier scheduled for the month of September 2020 to create the enabling environment moving into the new phase of the promotion of one united players union in Nigeria.

Other resolutions made at the AGM includes:

Requesting the NAC to develop and Strategies appropriate plans with the NFF and the Leagues for the speedy implementation of the Customized Nigeria Professional Footbllers Pension Scheme (NPFPS) beginning from the 2020/2021 Football season.

Charging the NFF/LMC to demonstrate good faith and commitment in the Facilitation and the implementation of the union membership check off dues and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) without further delay

The NEC in requests that the NFF fast track the payment of the FIFA covid19 palliative monies to clubs to enable them pay the players and coaches, including other club Officials without further delay.

In another resolution, the NEC calls on the NFF to declare professional football Clubs who are unable to meet their financial obligations to players and coaches in terms of non payment of salaries and allowance for several months Bankrupt, to enable the affected players and coaches qualify to draw benefits from the FIFA/FIFPRO Relieve Fund designated for such purpose

In a bid of expansion of its congress, the NEC also approves the addition of 21 female Captains and Zonal representatives of NNL Captains.

To facilitate the Union’s membership Drives of current and Ex Players, including the proposed Semi-Professional Footbllers Data Base program, the NEC approves the appointment of Country Representatives across the globe.

In appreciation, the NEC commends NAC, and ex-footballers, and Chairman of Surulere Local Government Council, Hon Tajudeen Ajide, Covener and Sponsor of the ongoing reconciliation move to reconcile the NANPF and NANF towards one strong and indivisible Players Union in Nigeria with the capacity to reposition the development and gowth of players welfare in Nigeria.

The Communique drafting Committee comprises of ex-Internationals, with Edema Fuludu as its chairman, and Danladi Musa the secretary; members include Mutiu Adepoju, Victor Okoh and barrister Audu Lawal.
